The founding pastor--who was hired as the teaching pastor at Shepherd a few months (as in less than a year, maybe 6?) before he split--has done some media/advertising work before he started in ministry. He bills himself as a Pastor/PR Consultant, and focuses on how to connect with the surrounding community and promote the message. All good PR stuff, except he never really learned the first rule of press releases: Shut up. Once is enough, and after that you're just annoying.

In concept, mixing PR with the Church ain't a bad idea, but his execution left a lot of people at Shepherd unimpressed. I always got the impression he was to focused on PR, and not on the other Church stuff.

Great entry as usual. We used to get email spam from this church in the office of the church I used to work at/attend. It was back when they were starting and the thing that always bothered me was that there was always something for sale at the end of it--a worship conference/seminar or some kind of classes on leading or preaching. I can't remember exactly anymore, just that it seemed like a weird way to get a church off the ground. Didn't realize the Shepherd connection. Loved the laugh comment.
